While the parents are at the festival...

The Villány Red Wine Festival is one of our busiest weekends every year. Lots of people come to Villány, the cellars and streets are full, programs follow each other, and of course we prepare for the guests. As a family, however, there is also a completely ordinary side to this: what should the children do during the event?

This year, I think Harsány Liget is a particularly good answer to this , and it will be open to children in Kisharsány between October 2nd and 4th, at the same time as the Red Wine Festival. When we first talked to the organizers about the idea, I liked the fact that they didn't want to just do it with a bouncy castle and a few quick children's programs. They are building a completely different world, where children actually do something.

The programs are open to children from 6 years old and include leatherwork, felting, goldsmithing, glasswork, freehand drawing and thumb archery. The classes are held in small groups of no more than 10-15 people and are led by masters and professionals. An important part of the whole concept is that it is a screen-free weekend: no Wi-Fi, no need for a phone, instead you have two hands, some interesting materials and someone who really shows you how to work with them.

As a parent, perhaps even more interesting is that you don't have to stay with your child the whole time. They provide proper supervision on site, so while the children are participating in their own program in Kisharsány, mom and dad can safely return to Villány for the Red Wine Festival. I think this is the point where both generations get along quite well. :)

Moreover, Harsány Liget does not only operate as a program for a few hours. You can come for a single workshop, or the children can even spend the entire weekend there. On Saturday, there will be two workshops, joint games and a concert, and on Sunday, another workshop will close the weekend.

It's also important for us to talk about it because we love local initiatives that add something to the reason why people come to Villány and its surroundings. The Red Wine Festival is of course still primarily about wine and meetings, but it's not a bad thing if the children also have a place where they don't come home in the evening having watched three hours of videos on their phones, but having made something with their own hands.

Harsány Grove – October 2–4, 2026, Kisharsány.

If you came to the Villány Red Wine Festival with your family, I think it's worth checking out their program.

Thank you for reading.

Clean flavors, careful hands.

Hello,

Gunzer Norman
